Shut Up Mark:
The Untold Story Of Mark
About
Since 2013, the band Shut Up Mark has been asked relentlessly about their name. Who is Mark? Which one of you is Mark? How did you get your band name? Here, we're going to take a deep dive into who Mark really is, and squash the rumors that Mark isn't more than just the name tattooed on the band members as a tramp stamp.

The Early Days
Our story starts with Mark. Yes, he's a real person. Mark was a male stripper in Portland Oregon for 12 years of his life. Getting tired of the drug scene and dollar bills being stuffed into his G-string, he started playing drums for a punk band called Baby Meat Delivery Tunnel. BMDT slept on floors living hand to mouth until one night the band was robbed by a group of teenagers. Mark knew he needed out.
The Vision
After 7 years on the road, Mark quit Baby Meat Delivery Tunnel to follow his true passion of underwater basketball. It's a real thing. Google it. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when his local YMCA closed due to a hepatitis outbreak. So he went back to his musical roots and reached out to the guys in Burns And The Sensations, a band he discovered while touring. This band would later become Shut Up Mark.

Finding Hope
Mark became infatuated with Burns And The Sensations after reading their bio on the bathroom stall of a Taco Bell.

"It is difficult to pigeon-hole Burns And The Sensations into a certain genre of music. Picture a band that sounds like a mix between Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, and Usher. Now picture a second band that sounds like Gilbert Gottfried, Double Dragon, and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony. Now picture a cover band of the second band mentioned. Now picture a rival cover band of the first cover band who refers to themselves as only a tribute band. Burns And The Sensations is that tribute band! They do everything that's required to conform to the currently received ideas of what a band is, which can be easily pigeon-holed and is not a tribute band."
Never Meet Your Idols
Some other stuff happened that probably isn't important.
On with our story.
Now disfigured, Mark makes intro voiceovers for the newly renamed band Shut Up Mark's live show to pay for his juicing addiction as a therapy plan to fix his dry skin from not being in the water anymore.

Rumor has it that he is still waiting on the payment for those intros he's been making since 2018.

You can hear Mark at every Shut Up Mark show introducing each set the band plays.
