It is difficult to pigeon-hole Shut Up Mark into a certain genre of music. Picture a band that sounds like a mix between Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, Paramore, and One Direction. Now picture a second band that sounds like Gilbert Gottfried, Double Dragon, pink lemonade, and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony. Now picture a cover band of the second band mentioned. Now picture a rival cover band of the first cover band who refers to themselves as only a tribute band. Shut Up Mark is that tribute band! They do everything that's required to conform to the currently received ideas of what a band is, which can be easily pigeon-holed and is not a tribute band.
